Ready-to-use means of water and beverage analysis
Technical details of the mediumBroth R2A(Heterotrophs in treated waters).

Broth R2ATotal count of heterotrophs

Nutritional medium for total heterotroph count in treated waters.

R2A broth in ampoule is a prepared medium, ready to be used in membrane filtration analysis for total heterotroph count in samples of treated drinking water, being able to recover microorganisms affected by chlorine.

Principle of procedure

Protein peptone and casein hydrolysate provide nitrogen, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids essential for growth. Yeast extract is a source of vitamins, in particular group B. Dextrose acts as fermentable carbohydrate and energy source.

Starch absorbs toxic metabolic products, favoring the recovery of damaged organisms. Sodium pyruvate increases the recovery of stressed cells. Magnesium sulfate provides divalent cations and sulphate, while dipotase phosphate helps to balance pH and supplies phosphate.
