Selective means for the confirmation ofPseudomona aeruginosain water samples and liquids by membrane filtration.

Acetamide ISO ampoule broth is a prepared medium, ready for use in membrane filtration analysis for confirmation and identification ofPseudomona aeruginosain water and liquid samples as specified by ISO 16266.Pseudomonas aeruginosais an opportunistic pathogen in humans, able to grow in water with low concentration of nutrients. This microorganism can also be found in pool water.

Principle of procedure

Acetamide as the only source of carbon allows the growth of micro-organisms capable of using it. Gram negative non-fermenting bacteria are able to demine acetamide. This deactivation is performed byPseudomona aeruginosa, Pseudomona acidovoransGroup III (Achromobacter xylosoxidans) andAlkaligenes odorans.

The presence of magnesium sulphate, sodium molybdate and iron sulphate allows the selective growth ofPseudomonasIn the middle.

Potassium salt has a high damping capacity and sodium chloride supplies electrolytes essential for transport and osmotic balance.
